Introduction to Basic Hygiene and GMP Awareness for the Cosmetic and Toiletry Industry
Cosmetics & Toiletry manufacturers aim to produce cosmetic products that meet in-house specifications and that conform to local health regulations. The Cosmetics – Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Guidelines according to SANS 22716:2011 provides guidelines on good manufacturing practices.
GMPs are the minimum control measures, actions and procedures that must be performed to manufacture a product that meets these needs.
As a result this course was develop to introduce attendees to hygiene as well as teach them more about germs, how they are spread, how they can be controlled, the basics of product spoilage and basic overview of GMP requirements.
The course can be customised by means of photographs of your facility which will identify good and bad practices and encourage staff to identify solutions to the problems indicated.
Course Objective
To equip the participant with knowledge about:
- Microorganisms, how they are spread, how they can be controlled and the basics of product spoilage
- Personal hygiene
- Cleaning and sanitation
- Pest control
- Overview of their responsibilities based on GMP according to SANS 22716:2011
- Overview of Food Safety Culture terminology
- Identifying current activities that could assist with implementing a Food Safety Culture at the attendees’ organisation
- Improving current practices
- Tools/documents required
- Implementing an action plan for Food Safety Culture
A certificate of attendance will be issued once the course has been successfully completed.
